Rendezvous Club
331 N. Stockton
Lodi, CA
700 chips - 1968
Nothing really coming together here. California is so quirky with their gambling laws.
The address for the chips is an apartment building. Nobody in there seems to be associated with the club. The Rendezvous Club is listed as a “tavern” at 17 W. Elm Street, Lodi. In the 1967 application for a liquor license by Francis J and Rilda L. Richard, the address is given “17-23 Elm St” which might indicate that something was happening next door from the official tavern at 17 Elm. (???)
In 1968 the managers are listed as “James J., John and Mrs Mary Bitz”. The Bitz’ previously ran the Rainbow Club at 116 N Sacramento St, Lodi (the bar remained at this address until very recently). I could find no mention of gambling, either legally or illegally.
The Bitz’ continued to run the Rendezvous through the 1970s and eventually sold it to a Virgil Haney.
