I just wanted to share that I went to New York to be evaluated at Mt. Sinai Hospital. I was being evaluated to see if they would clear me as a candidate for a kidney transplant. The final result, which I just found out last Monday, was that I AM!!! I had to have testing done here before I went to New York, including: Urologist, Nephrologist, Cardiologist ( EVERYTHING including a MRI), Dentist, Gastroenterologist (Colonoscopy, yuk), Vascular Surgeon and my Dermatologist. When I came hope, I even had to have a brain MRI as aneurisms are sometimes found with my disease. When all was said and done, I qualified

I am now working with an organization back in Brooklyn, named RENEWAL which is basically an Organ Donor Advocacy organization. They will help me “spread the word” about living organ donation and how individuals can live normally with only one kidney and the wonderful benefit of donating their other kidney to someone like me who is dying. I am attaching one of the flyers that they have prepared for me. This one has been sent out to the Pasadena Police Association but can be used with other groups as well.

I was wondering if you might help me by posting on The ChipBoard and showing this flyer. All of the inquiries to RENEWAL are anonymous. I would like for the members of The ChipBoard to possibly spread the word regarding organ donation to others on their mailing lists. You never know what might happen.

I hate to burden you with this but my kidneys have totally shut down and, for the last eight months, been on dialysis four (4) days per week. I really need to find a living donor sometime sooner than later! You can let the members know that the young cop in the brochure is me!

If this is too much for you, it is O.K. I know you have had your hands full with Kay!

I am just trying to get the word out as soon as possible as I am not sure how long I will remain “qualified.””
