I've been a member of this club for about 5 years now. I have attend every convention since joining, although I have been very shy and quiet. Something, I don't know what, picked up my interest at this years convention and I've gained much more interest. Joining this board, getting to know some of you, trading/buying chips, joining the TCBPPFUN, my 1st contribution to the Chip Guide, sharing ideas and more. I'm also thinking about becoming a MOGH member and doing some volunteering at next years convention.
I think it's worth saying the obvious we need more younger/middle aged members, for that matter any new or old member. About my membership idea. Before, during and after the convention I attend the WSOP events at the Rio, this event starts way before and ends way after the convention. And for the people here that don't know, the exposure to all ages, of people from all over the world is in the thousands daily at the Rio during our event. There is no doubt in my mind that a few of these participants would have some interest in either the MOGH or the CC+GTCC. When I go, I see vendors, massage areas, WSOP clothing sales, food, cocktails/drinks, and a dozen internet sites promoting/marketing there product in the halls of the WSOP event.
I'm just throwing ideas now, but if we could set up a display for the MOGH and the CC+GTCC at the WSOP event promoting our clubs and convention at the South Point, would possibly could generate some interest. The display would need to be secured at night and possibly maned during our convention. We could have or hand out flyers, if it's maned we could flag down people just to talk history or collecting. If we could get in there (maybe using our non-profit status) with a maned or not, we could generate some turnout. This is only and idea and I have no problems with changes or other ideas.
On this board I have seen ideas for membership/exposure by moving the convention closer to the strip casinos. I think cost was an issue. Hopefully, with some ideas like this we can gain some exposure and membership. Who knows ... at an event like this a Pro or news media may approach us and help out!
Just an Idea
