Thanks, Jim
That was a good catch! I haven't done any kind of research yet. Please, if you'd like to, feel free to put the calendar on the MOGH website....it should be shared. (preferably contributed by anonymous-thanks!)
The latest state wide Nevada phone book that we have is from 1956. There are a grand total of TEN listings for Searchlight!! Based on that, plus the calendar, I'd say that the Oasis was probably open later than 1954
California Pacific Utilities Co.....Searchlight No. 24
Clyde Cree Chevron Stn..........Searchlight No. 12
Cree Clyde............................Searchlight No. 25
Crystal Club..........................Searchlight No. 13
El Rey Club.............................Searchlight No. 3
Kay John...............................Searchlight No. 22
Kay Motel...............................Searchlight No. 2
Martello Willie........................Searchlight No. 23
Oasis Club..............................Searchlight No. 4
Searchlight Casino...................Searchlight No. 5
Starting in 1957, there were no more state-wide phone books. I'm not even sure where to find the Searchlight listings...I'm pretty sure they didn't issue their own phone books...!
We also got a Searchlight Journal from April 10, 1947...here's one page of it (I think we got the complete newspaper...it's 4 pages! )
