Doug, you are so right it hurts,
We are stock with two candidates, each of which could only beat each other, any other candidate from the opposite party could easily win in a landslide over either one of these two.
But, 4 years go fast and we will survive. Chances are whomever wins will not be re-elected anyway, as long as our democracy and constitution remains. Unfortunately, the winner, in the next year, can change the United States as we know it, and forever. Our court is evenly divided by two different ideologies, a group of centrist pro-constitutional judges and another group of strong and relatively young left leaning judges who believe the constitution is wrong and needs to be modified at many levels in accordance to their ideology.
So, I believe that the only reason to vote this year is to make sure that the winner is not the one who will put the 5th, and probably 6th, anti-constitutional judge and change our country forever. The candidates and their weaknesses, well, this year are basically irrelevant, 4 years do go by quite fast. But Doug, if you think things are bad now.... wait until these people can re-arrange the constitution, because by then you may not even be allowed to publicly display your concerns. Because once they get rid of our second amendment, the first is next!
