MOGH Donation and auction to benefit the CC>CC
Many years ago when we moved to Las Vegas, my wife Sandi, and Janice O’Neal started a project to collect and catalog as many casino related playing cards as possible. What started as one to two nights a week for several years produced one of the most complete collections possible.
To share this collection and all the related information, I published a series of six books relating to casino playing cards from Nevada, California, Atlantic City, Colorado, South Dakota, Washington, Michigan, Indian Casino’s, Cruise ships and foreign casinos.
When Janice passed away several years ago, the project came to a standstill. Janice had assembled her collection and Sandi had a duplicate collection. We drove to Las Vegas from Ohio this year for the convention and brought along the playing card collection Janice had assembled. Six large binders, almost 75 pounds, containing one of the most complete collection of Nevada playing cards at the time. We also brought along Janice’s collection of casino playing cards from the other areas as listed above, again 5 additional large binders, another 75 pounds. All 11 binders of Janice O’Neil’s collection was donated to the MOGH at the convention.
Now, we still have Sandi’s collection, almost an exact duplicate. We have decided to have an on-line auction for these cards with ALL proceeds from the auction going to the CC>CC. The auction will be in two parts – first will be the Nevada casino cards. This collection totals approx. 4300 casino playing cards, all different in casino, color, face design, joker design, etc. There are many post-it notes attached to many of the cards with additional information. This is probably the best collection you will find available today with your winning bid going to a great organization. A separate auction for the remaining cards from other States will be held later once I can assemble all the information relating to that portion.
The auction starts now, post your bid on the chipboard. Starting bid will be $100.00, which is a bargain for what you could receive. Remember the CC>CC is a tax deductible organization. The auction will end at Midnight, EST, July 31, 2016. The winning bid amount will be sent to the Club Treasurer and once he has the funds the cards will be shipped to the winner. Shipping is extra and will depend on whether you want just the cards, the cards in 9 space plastic pages, or the cards, pages and binders. This is your option. I would estimate shipping at worst to be about $50.00 if you take cards, pages, and binders.
If you collect playing cards, you know what this collection is worth. There are many older cards, and many seldom seen cards. Any questions please contact me at jimsteffner@mail.com
