Watching the political conventions brought back memories of a summer's evening in Winnemucca
some 44 years ago. I was on one of my trips looking around for old chips and had the name and
address of one of the owners of Scotty's Club. I had been in the place in 1966,a year before it
closed, but wasn't collecting until a couple years later. I rang the bell and the man I was looking
for answered. He invited me in and I explained my mission. The year was 1972 and one of the
conventions was playing on the TV. He told me he might have some of the Scotty's chips but he
wanted to finish watching the speeches before he could look. I wasn't too happy about that but
decided to wait. After what seemed like an eternity he went out to the garage to look around.
Soon he returned with a stack of chips-ten each of 1,5,and 25 dollar from Scotty's-30 chips in all.
He handed them to me and I left thinking wow I really hit the jackpot!
