Greetings to One and All
I've just returned from a trip to Palm Springs. It was a blast! I came home so sick, that I'm not likely going out of the house for a couple more days. Anyway, what's the fun of a road trip without sharing stories. First the drive itself and then for each casino.
I took the "back" route through the California desert. Hadn't done that before, I mean, what could go wrong in 115 heat in the middle of the day driving a 17 year old truck, 225,000 miles on it, with nearest tow truck 75 miles away? Well, I did get lucky on that account. It is so much fun to see the desert just outside your window on a two lane road. Only saw 20 cars all day once away from the interstates. Much more fun than the Interstate with 20 cars in sight at all times. Part of the route takes you on the old Route 66. Loved the old motel there. And the stands of Joshua trees were enough to get me to slow down and enjoy the scenery.
Although this turnout is not dead center in the middle of nowhere, that is decidedly what you are looking off to in the distance
And for Hotrod and his friends, a rather nice looking car at the Sonic Drive In in Yucca Valley(?)
