Just an observation that the annual Vegas convention is scheduled at the same time as the huge music festival that is scheduled in Vegas every year. The festival causes all the hotels and rental cars in town to be sold out or have the prices increased substantially for the few options that are left. Inexpensive airfare is also not available due to the demand during this time. Combine this with 110+ degree weather, I'm sure many people are discouraged from attending the convention. It might make sense to have the convention at a time when there are no very large conflicting events happening in town at a time when the weather is reasonably cool to enjoy a visit to the area. Also, maybe a move to the Reno area would be a viable alternative?
