Hello to Visitors to Fabulous Las Vegas.
Common sense stuff, but a reminder for those visiting from cooler climates.
It's looking to be 105 up to 115 degrees most of the days leading up to and during the convention. Depending on the weather source, they are now saying partly Cloudy Wednesday and Thursday so there goes the dry heat theory.
If your car, or rental, ends up not parked in the shade, it can easily and quickly get to over 140 degrees in your car!
If you do not have a sunscreen for the windshield, bring a small towel to drape over the steering wheel as it can get too hot to touch. Vinyl and leather seats can be too hot to sit on and if you are wearing shorts, you might end up with an annoying burn on bare skin: Take a towel to sit on! If you don't have a windshield sunscreen consider buying one, in my truck it makes a 15 to 20 degree difference! Leave your windows open even just 1/2 inch to get just a little bit of circulation while parked.
Last year, I left couple cans of soda in the car and they exploded in the heat! A friend baked Chocolate Chips cookies on his dashboard by putting some cookie dough on aluminum foil and leaving the car closed up facing the sun for a couple of hours!
If you don't have a fancy remote start, reach in and start the car with the A/C on for a minute or so before getting in, otherwise you'll get a blast of 140 degree air on you before the vents cool down.
NEVER leave pets, children, wives in the car without the car running and the A/C on! Even just running into the 7/11 for a minute. Filling up with gas, you must turn the engine off... Sounds stupid, but consider dropping off passengers at the door to the gas station store and letting them stay in the Air conditioned store for the 5 minutes it takes to fill up, even if it costs you a few bucks in snacks to do so.
Never go outside without a good sized bottle of water. Even if the water's not cold.
And thank the Good Lord that the convention is not in Phoenix where its supposed to be getting to 120 degrees!
