Most people don't realize that an assault rifle is defined as a fully automatic weapon. Fully automatic weapons were outlawed in 1934. The AR the Orlando shooter used was a semi-automatic weapon.
You have TV announcers calling any rifle an assault rifle when they should learn what they are talking about. CNN interviewed US Representative Grayson after the shooting and he made the comment that the problem was making guns that shoot 700 rounds per minute referring to the shooter's AR and the CNN announcer agreed.
We have sufficient laws on the books if they would just enforce them. In 2012 over 80,000 people with criminal records applied to buy a gun which is a felony. Only 44 of these people were prosecuted for committing this crime. This does include the people the gun dealer turned away before running the background check. Enforce the laws.
