You will find a Boot Sale close to or in almost every large UK town and city on a Sunday morning - I usually head to one with my mother for a couple of hours every week. Start early morning (6:30 onwards) and the busiest time is until around 10am and then it slows down and people pack up around midday. As the name implies, most people simply fill up their car, park up in lines (guided by the organisers) and sell from a table alongside the car and maybe straight out of the boot (trunk) of the car. These days there are a lot of professional market stalls in between the 'once-a-year' sellers who are simply having a clear-out. I usually sell once a year - during the year anything I no longer want simply goes into a box in the workshop and once I have a dozen or so boxes then off I go.
I have picked up a few chip items, sometimes from a coin dealer who comes along a few times a year, but also from casual sellers. Can be a good place if you need used items cheap - gardening equipment is so much cheaper at a boot sale for example!
If you're in the UK on a Sunday, seek one out
