Go to the Epson.com website and check for refurbished scanners. They are very reasonably priced and are very good scanners. And, you get a semblance of a warranty, but just enough to get it working or they will ship you another. Plus, you get the proper driver for your operating system. I use and Epson 1670 Perfection but that might be a little more than you need. That's your best bet for the money you are wanting to spend. And, the Epson twain software is awesome for scanning and photo editing. Hope this helps.
