In Response To: CAL-NEV-ARI... ()

My older brother retired to Cal-Nev-Ari in the late 1990's, he wanted out of the rat race in So. Cal after a divorce. He lived there for 15 yrs. before he passed away. He would drive the 35 minutes to Laughlin and play poker, I would go with him 2 or 3 times a year. Thru him I got to know Nancy, yes a great hard working tough business women. She and Slim homesteaded this sq. mile in the desert because when he flew over he knew the water level was shallow, because could see from the air some green spots. They put lights on the dirt runway, built a RV park, store, gas station, restaurant, bar, casino, hangers, and later pre fab homes. She lived in St. George, Ut. the last 15-20 yrs. and would drive 2 hrs. each way to run the town. Did real good when they closed Hoover Dam to trucks, and re routed down Hwy, 95, sold land for the new 4 lane Hwy. had construction workers staying in RV park giving a lot of business to Bar, restaurant, store, and casino. Also sold a lot of water for construction of Hwy. Now just route slots, about 15 yrs. ago had weekend BJ for a few years. I spent time talking with her when I visited my Brother, haven't seen or talked with her for 6-7 yrs. Sounds like she soon will get 8 million, and finally have a well earned retirement.
