The story is great and agree that is part of "chips" and collectibles history. And as belonging to "our hobby history" it all depends how each one of us define our "hobby", which is why we all collect different things. But now I certainly better understand why everybody treats them so differently than other fantasies, specially those who were very close to the story...
As a purist and not being emotional about them, I now feel stronger of what they are not and the fact that the only reason to categorize them next to real casino chips in any type of guide would be to differentiate them from the real ones. In which case they should not carry a value because that sends a double message and tends to legitimize the fantasy. But that was my opinion/mine, not an imposition, but which got distorted in soooo many ways. Someone answered by shown me the Wikipedia definition of "collectibles"..UH?? Still...I humbly accept what the majority wants, you guys are the writers so is your opinion that counts and after all this is not a perfect world.
BTW, I was talking about guides or any catalog in general...was not attacking the TCR per se, but we only have two, the book and the guide, so had to direct my attention to them. I admire the guys that do the TCR & guide as I cannot believe it brings enough money to be cost effective, and if it was not for the TCR I would not be collecting Nevada. So the fact that at times I disagree with something in it means I agree with almost everything else.
So, looking forward to receiving the New one... my older one is so full of notes that I can hardly see what it says now.
NOW I WILL FINALLY SHUT UP!
