Re: Do Bordland' belong in a casino chip collectio

Gene,

I do not disagree with most of what you say... but you are mixing apples and oranges in some cases..

You are correct, which is my point, as you said "Borland never advertised them as real casino chips", which is my point, they are not!!

.... Yes Borland made chips for casinos... but we both know those are not what I am talking about... the fact that he made some legitimate casino chips does not, in any shape or form, make the rest of the Borland's imitations "legitimate casino chips".

... And also, as you say, and I said, the only reason to put hem in a catalog or guide would be to tell casino chip collectors that they are not casino chips and avoid confusion... but if you do that..you cannot put a "value" on them because then you are legitimizing them and treating them as if they were really a casino chip, regardless of what else you say. You are actually giving validity to them. If you put any other fake in a guide... to tell people they are fakes, would you actually give a value to that fake??... the same case.

Which brings me to another point, if you are going to put the Borland imitations in a catalog to say they are not real, should you then not do the same with all the well known fakes... which are a lot more expensive and can cause more economical damage than the relatively cheap Borlands?

Finally, I admire the fact that you have the largest collection of Bordland FAKES, just like I admire your other collections and mostly how I admire your knowledge..like very few.

Still, I am just an avid casino chip collector, but have one of the largest Miami Hurricanes sports memorabilia collection. But, the fact that we are both casino chip collectors, do not make the Borland chips or my Hurricane memorabilia items real casino chips!!

I will gladly start making pretty imitation casino chips if you promise to buy over 800 of them!;Just kidding Gene, could not help myself vbg Again, I applaud any type of collecting, as an old MD I know how good it can be for most people. And most Borlands are quite pretty, that is why they sell.

Thanks for your input!
