For the love of the hobby! Sometime the research is quick, easy, and painless. Other times there is absolutely nothing that can be found. I have searched for months and never found a clue on a listed Club. (I always have about 30 projects in the works) Other times I'm looking into a Club and by accident I run into another place I have never seen listed. (Like Honeycup from yesterday)
I will hopefully be able to look into every Card Room list/unlisted and try to give info on them in the next 10 years.
Ask Gene.... I have been working on the Elmo Club from Suisun City for 5+ years. For 3-4 years I have been saying my research is almost done....then I run into a snag or find other things about this place. This single research project has led me to at least 5 other gambling establishments from my area. Places nobody has heard of. I don't want to give out any other info until I exhaust my research. I might post a short version of the Elmo Club history soon. I really want to find a match cover or ashtray from this place. I haven't really looked into it for 2 months because I get caught up in all the other researched places.
Oh.....The guy who started the Elmo Club.... His last name wasn't originally Elmo...he changed it to Elmo to become more American when he came from Italy 😀
