Found a good price on a Thunderbird Host Chip I need, but unfortunately it is slabbed.

A couple of questions:

I am 100% against slabbing, but would chippers here think it would be ok if I won the auction and removed the chip from the slab?

Wouldn't that be like a humanitarian effort to rescue a prisoner?

If I did, does it look like it would damage the chip at all? I don't think so, but I've never bought a slabbed chip before.
