Amtrak dose not run a train thru Las Vegas, any longer, Needles, Ca. is the closest city. The only trains that go thru the Cajon Pass on way to Las Vegas are freight trains (70 trains a day) many delays and at best attaching x-train cars would be a 61/2 hr.trip from LA . You can drive faster (non-peak hrs.) and have a car in LV cost over 200.00 R.T. with taxes, this has been talked about for years, and studies show no way to be profitable. Amtrak has huge Government subsidies, and still runs in the red big time. Flying is faster and cheaper, and driving is way cheaper. Probably a stock scam. Beware!
Seems to be the general consensus. Places like Scottrade won't even handle the stock.
I've been watching and part of the deal was getting a route using the freight tracks. That's from two different companies. Not a good sign.
Reason I brought it up was now and then I go look and there's a new promised date and all kinds of vague, ready stuff. The original was $99 round trip in a club car with TVs and bar. Ha Ha!
