El Cortez Exhibit is getting a facelift, and therefore, looking for additional material to display.
As part of the Refresh, much of the currently displayed material that is on-loan will be returned to the lenders. And the MoGH thanks those loaners greatly for their participation in what was originally a temporary display and is now a permanent display!
And now, as a permanent display, it is only logical that it should be refreshed periodically, and after more that a year, that time has come. As noted, loaned items will be returned, but in front of that, replacement items are to be collected. I will be posting a series of "WANTED" ( ) messages over the next several weeks, to indicate the kind of items being sought for the Refresh.
Most specifically, we are looking for examples of slot machine glass from 4 specific casinos. (Keep in mind that the El Cortez Exhibit is a Tribute to Jackie Gaughan. It is not El Cortez specific.) The 4 casinos for which slot glass is wanted, are as follows:
1. Boulder Club
2. Gold Spike
3. Las Vegas Club
4. Pioneer
However, we are also looking to re-acquire slot machine glass from these 4 properties as well.
5. Union Plaza / Jackie Gaughan's Plaza / Plaza
6. Golden Nugget
7. El Cortez
8. Western
Please note that for the final 4 casinos, I said "re-acquire" slot glass. This is because examples of slot glass from these 4 casinos are already on-loan for the Exhibit and the general plan is to return that glass to the loaners. This means that we are seeking replacement glass (or loan extensions) of that same glass (or other examples from the same casinos). This same scenario can also be said of other on-loan items, i.e., the Refresh can handle loans of already loaned items.
But for right now, we are looking for slot machine glass as noted in the first group of casinos listed here.
If you have any examples that you would care to loan to the MoGH, please contact me via email ( Jim@GamingOre.com ) or text/phone at: 520.971.7909.
Need more details, ask here, or send me a message.
Thank you for your attention and thank you again to those that have already loaned and/or donated items to the Jackie Gaughan Tribute Exhibit at the El Cortez!
