Don, mine was slightly tarnished however I am guilty of dipping it for the scan. But slightly tarnished. Nothing like I have seen on even current silver strikes or silver eagles from the gov. Mine was a very faint yellowish a tad heavier in small areas.

I also have the trinket book and mine also says nickel silver so when I got mine I was told it was sterling. My purchase was contingent on me testing it.
