It looks like a fountain pen ink spill, just the way it flows, etc.

The chip is almost one of a kind I think, but willing to "damage it" more if there is a chance of decreasing the ink somehow..

Will start with the less damaging and go from there.,.. a chip full of ink is not worse than a chip with damaged color; I guess.
