In the 60's slot machines did not have chairs in most casinos, the dollar machines used real silver dollars, they were heavy and from any where in the casino gift shops, dinning areas, ect. they gave your change in real silver dollars. Hoping you would drop some in the machines on your way to your room or leaving. Players wanted to get rid of them, some times would either play a table game or machine, wish I kept more than the few I took home after several trips. However, those were the best day's in LV, very reasonable rooms, shows, food, and many comps. The Mob relied mainly on casino winnings, with a lot of profits from skimming. Kay and I had a 59 Chev. Impala convertible would cruise up the 2 lane hwy. from So. Cal. with friends and maybe have 100-200 bucks and stay a few nights and have the best time of our lives. Spent our honeymoon at the Trop. in 1960 twenty one year old kids. (ordered breakfast in bed for the first time, felt awkward.) Of course, no air conditioning in cars then, so would plan to drive across the desert at night. (gas was .23 cents a gal.) Anyone remember these days?
