Requiring Board dues and expanding the board is not "selling seats". Our Board Members should be strategically placed for what skills they can bring to the organization.
They are asked to serve by the Board, they are voted on... and they agree to serve knowing the responsibilities that are required. They have terms.
$300 bucks to be on a BOD like ours is very reasonable. Dues shows that you are committed to the organization and it's mission, but that commitment doesn't stop there. The dues amount is determined by the Board and is defined in the bylaws.

Board of Directors raise money. Executive Directors run the daily business.
