I know you and everyone involved want the best for the club and you are passionate about your views.
We all want to see the hobby and club thrive and be around for our grandkids to enjoy.
I believe the answer is to restructure. We need a full time Executive Director managing the club's business.
We need to have a Board of Directors that is focusses on raising money not the clubs's daily business.
Board Members should be asked to join the board, not have to run for election... too transient. The Board Chair should
be voted on by the board members.
Our BOD should grow to roughly 20 members. A fair starting board dues is $300 a year.
That would give us some income right off the bat each year.
There are a lot of things to rework but thats why you hire an expert to go through what we are currently doing and show us ways to do it better.
Maybe they would tell us to try something that none of us have thought of...
Another issue that we have not really discussed much is that I think the club was founded by a generation that really valued traditional social
connectivity. This attitude is part of the club's fabric... but that generation is slowly becoming fewer and fewer. The younger people today
don't have the same social value systems. They don't write hand written letters, they don't go to banquets. When I look around at our makeup
we have a majority senior membership. There is a disconnect in our organization... between the younger members and the senior members.
We need to bridge that gap, and we need to attract younger members.
Is anyone reading this a member of the Mob Museum or Neon Museum? What is their communication with membership like?
I'd guess they have at least an email a month to members.
We need to be talking to our membership more.
