In a JOB game there is no kicker..That matters in other games where 4 of a kind can be double the payout including an A,234 INCLUDED into a 4 of a kind of the 4 cards..4 5's thru Kings do not matter.
DDB is one such variation..
Property strategy is maintain the the ability to get the 4 of a kind in the first place and not hold a kicker card..
Say getting dealt 3 Aces and a kicker 2..you need every opportunity to get the 4th Ace before thinking about Kicker possibilities.So throw out the 2 and hope for the Ace and as a bonus a 2.3.4..
