Drove to Coronado Beach yesterday - and there is no sight of the SS Monte Carlo at Avenida de las Arenas. I walked along the beach, noting the very silty, compact sand (one can drive a car on it, although there's no easy way to get down there). I asked the Lifeguard, who had the sole truck on the beach, about the ship and he said, "It's under water again." So much for that. Apparently the sand moves around very rapidly and the wreck was never on dry land as such. Looked near the breakwater, saw some banged up shells and that's about it.
On the way out, I was wondering if Chevy Colorados hung around Coronado, and sure enough: there was a red Colorado being driven over the curb by its inexperienced driver. KLUNKK! went the rear wheel. Made up for the SS Discouragement.
So, who want's a Seven Mile chip instead? Face plus $1 ($1 = 2, $2 = 3) plus $2.60 shipping.
I can guarantee that no frisky pickups ran over these.
