If you started with a numbered silver medal then you should have been able to reserve that same number each year from then on. Yes the numbering did cost extra but many members liked getting the numbered coins. In the beginning there were silver medals ordered that were not numbered but after a while with the cost of silver going up only the numbered medals were ordered for those members who collected them. There may have been some unnumbered at times but very few.

For several years the leftover silver medals were returned to the mint to be recycled into the next years medals to save having a lot of silver in the clubs inventory.

I believe now that Roy only orders the numbered medals that have been reserved by the collecting members, plus maybe a few unnumbered that go pretty fast.
