Shawn -- It has been my experience that some gold hot stamp chips lose their gold color when either cleaned with a soapy solution or with heavy wear. When they are all silver and no gold showing, I have seen others on this board describe that as a chip that has been cleaned. Now, this is just an observation and I have no scientific proof as to the accuracy of the statement. However, I do have a couple of early Native American chips from Oklahoma -- especially blue ones that had hot stamped centers -- that have turned out both ways. Looks like the gold foil is worn off leaving the underside that resembles the color of aluminum.

Great information. I appreciate it! i was hoping that I discovered a super rare error chip, but instead I have a nice clean common used version.
