All values are determined in some way by supply and demand. The amount surviving is the supply, along with the amount actually on the market, but you also have to take demand into account. In the case where there are only a small amount of large denomination collectors, but hundreds of small denomination collectors, the value of the small denomination chip can exceed, and possibly greatly exceed the value of the high denomination chip.
