My friend is a member of the South Norwalk Boat Club in Norwalk, Connecticut.

There is always a tradition of buying fellow members a drink. The old token was a non-descript chip that could be used for beer, wine, or mixed drink - it just depended what the person you were buying for was drinking. If you did not want the drink, you pocketed the chip for another day.

The Club decided to re-vamp the process with new chips. The new chips have denominations on them.
