They also get 3 gallons of Jet fuel which sells at 10 times the price of gas, plus LPG, machine lubricants, Vaseline etc. etc. 95% of a barrel yields a saleable product, of which gas and diesel are the cheapest.
The refiners cost of getting gas to the pump is probably not much more than 50c.
