Today will be the last entry in my series of Northern Nevada casino photos. I hope you've enjoyed seeing them as much as I've enjoyed finding and posting them.
My goal when I started this was to find photos of casinos I thought most chippers hadn't seen in person or interesting photos of long-gone casinos. It has been educational for me, as I saw - for the first time - photos of places such as Frankie's Club in Fallon, the Miner's Club in Mountain City, the Golden Club in Austin and the Say When in McDermitt and even larger places such as the Colony Casino in Reno.
I'd also like to thank Eric Miller for complementing many of the casino photos with corresponding matchbooks, Phillip Sublett for providing additional historical information on Lake Tahoe casinos and Phil Jensen, whose wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience with many of these old clubs continue to amaze me.
I collect only Tahoe chips these days, so I'm going to make last entry one of my favorite Tahoe photos. I posted this shot of the Cal-Vada Lodge on the chipboard a few months ago after seeing it for the first time. I've always been fascinated by this place.
And the chip pictured below has some special significance to me, too. I bought the $1 New Cal-Vada Lodge from the late Charlie Rodgers at the convention a few years ago. It was a recent find and wasn't yet listed in the Chip Rack. Charlie and I haggled for a while, we eventually agreed on a price and we were both happy with the transaction. The hobby misses Charlie.
Happy New Year, everybody.
