The interior of the Tahoe Village:
In the 1950s, the former Tahoe Village became Oliver's Club and Hotel:
In 1965, Oliver Kahle burned down Oliver's Club in order to clear the property for a planned resort hotel.
By the time Kahle got back to Tahoe after selling his Las Vegas clubs, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency had been formed, and major new resort projects were impossible to get approved. After a decade of trying, Kahle sold his property to Douglas County, which built a sheriff's station on the site. Kahle's dream hotel existed only in a sketch, which was published with his obituary in 1986.
