I'm fairly certain (but can't prove it 100%) that the Avalon Club in Emeryville was named for Avalon on Santa Catalina. One of the founders of the Avalon club played ball for Wrigley in Chicago when he was young., and Santa Catalina was Wrigley's winter training headquarters.
