I'm not sure how many people really care to know how the round robin turned out but I have had a few people ask me so here is a little information. The round robin began back in July and finally made it back to me on November 14th - nearly 4 months after it started. Including myself, we had 15 chippers participate and up to this point I haven't received any complaints from anyone. Each participant was required to send me scans of all the chips they were taking from the round robin as well as scans of the chips that they planned on replacing them with so I could make sure they were fair trades and the conditions were appropriate. In my opinion, with out sending scans these round robins won't work any longer but as long as you include and enforce that rule we can have some VERY successful round robins in the future.
I was against having the rule of sending scans when I first started this round robin but decided to take the advice of senior collectors and it is the best decision I could have made. It is obvious that peoples idea of value and condition is very subjective and can't always be trusted. I'm not saying that anyone was trying to take advantage of the round robin by any means just that not everyone sees things the same ways. By sending the scans, I feel that the integrity of the round robin was kept in tack the whole time allowing each participant to have a good selection of chips to look at.
All in all, I am very happy that I did this round robin and am happy that I had so many people willing to participate. I'm sorry that I had such a limited amount of chips to send around and that the condition of some of my chips wasn't great but I still feel that things were successful and people were able to add some nice chips to their collections. I will be attaching scans of all of the chips I sent out as well as everything that was send back to me (besides plastic and metal tokens as I got tired of scanning). I'm not going to post all of the room keys, key cards, match books, etc.... but I did get a lot of that stuff back as well. Thanks to everyone who participated, gave advice, and added extra items to the round robin, this couldn't have been nearly this great without you. I would love to hear how everyone else thought this round robin went as well so feel free to let everyone know. Thanks again, Dan R-8220
