I received a box a few hours ago containing 3 Pappy Van Winkle 10 year bottles from a VERY good friend.

I was elated to get these as it seems the 15, 20 and 23 year is almost impossible to find these days.

Unfortunately when opening the box I immediately noticed a strong bourbon smell which is never a good sign.

While carefully unwrapping the contents I was praying the whole time that at least one of them survived the trip.

The good news is 2 of them made it safely (Although the bottles looked like they had been thru a war zone).

The great news, I have a awesome bottle to drink at both Thanksgiving AND Christmas.

Looks like New years is going to be an Orphan Barrel day ..... LOL

While I am disappointed that one of the bottles broke, I am still elated that 2 of them made it to me OK and I am VERY grateful to my good friend !!!!!
