Gene thanks for the info,I've drinkin in that bar as well when I lived up in Northern California.I'm pretty sure it still exists and is in the Arcata Plaza too. Across the Plaza from the Boot Club. From what I remember it had a bunch of Deer and Elk heads on the wall with a big mirror behind the bar and I do remember people talking about cards being played in a back room.A very local place where the older local guys would meet and hang out.I was young then and found there conversations interesting.Arcata is a college town, Humboldt state university,but in the 1800's was mostly logging and fishing.Cutting down the huge redwoods and the fishing was booming and even some whaling going on.Beatuiful place to visit with the redwoods on the coast and rolling green hills.I liked living there for 13 years but originally from Southern California.Thanks again Gene you are a great Historian,Torrey
