1- The CC were chips from the Colony Club Hotel & Casino, opened late 50's in the Isle of Youth. This was to be the beginning of a large nuimber of hotels to be developed in this island by the Jewish Mafia , Lansky.
The casino was open for a couple of years and they only had two types of chips, the roulettes, which you can see in the left part of the page, both sides same, and the denomination chips, to your irght. I believe I am only missing one denomination chip, but plenty of roulette chips. I have the picture of the hotel & casino with the inversed C. One of the VERY FEW initial chips that we can say 100% where they came from and do know the history. I will try to find the picture and post it later.
At the end of the page you will see a few "crossed C", probably what John was refering to, some very old, which were initially put together with the CC but which by now we know were not part of this much newer casino!!
2- There was a Copacabana casino in Cuba, but not in Havana, it was in Guantanamo, and the casino apparently opened in the late 40's, See the chips that were used in this casino. Because of their beauty in simplicity these Copacabana chips sold early and dissappeared from the market. The "Jug" in the chips is used because in that area of the country a large number of houses were decorated with these in the entrance and became a symbol of the region.
Hope this clarifies everything.
Ed, alreayd told you, change that damn thing!! is not from Copacabana or Havana. The CC, are much rare and if you sell it like it should, as a rare chip from the onlyt casino ever erected off the Cuban mainland, with very few chips making it to the market, you will get more bidders!! . Just 'kiding!
Sorry for the quality of the scans and album slips, but I have them in certain order as they will probably show up in the catalog. Do not want to take them out and get my not so youg brain confused-
