I had a similar situation (I can't remember what chip it was). I used needle nosed pliers and grabbed the edge of the ring and bent it back (away from the front of chip) little by little working it just barely away. You would have to work around the chip a few times. I CAN'T guarantee it will work on your chip, but it did work for me.
