Not everybody knows about this place, but I think it's one of the coolest things about Lake Tahoe. It's a castle built in the 1930s on the east shore by George Whittell, a multimillionaire who used to own most of the land on the east side of the lake. Tours aren't cheap - $39 for adults - but they're well worth it. The link below will tell you more about it.
