Neat museum and great restored early rail service cars and engines. Worth the trip -- it was for me. Also, Carson City is within the rim. Years ago there was a museum in the old Carson City mint that was neat -- with a neat look at an authentic gold mine. In Reno, the steak house listed in a previous post has great soup and salad -- steak was super.
