It sounds like it's on life support, you were lucky to get your data off of it.... I've had the same thing happen to me on internal drives in my laptops.... They are almost made to be disposable, limited life spans. Now I have 2 back ups and a cloud..... Externals are incredibly inexpensive these days usually you can find a deal on them at Best Buy or Walmart....
