I have an external hard drive I use for backup. Last week it started acting very slow. It takes at least a half hour for the drive to show up in "My Computer".

I tried a few fixes and tuneups but nothing helped. Then transferred all the files to another backup - 950mgs of files took 22 hours to transfer (SLOW!).

Finally decided to delete files and format drive. Took another 20 some hours to delete files. Format option does nothing.

Takes at least a half hour now for the drive to even show up.

Is it trashed? Any suggestions?
