Dragnet, a most perspicacioous gentleman who lives a bit southwest, sent
this one. It's an oldie, for sure, but definitely worth a chuckle...

There was this guy named Jack, and he had a girlfriend called Lorraine, who
was very pretty and he liked her a lot.

One day he went to work and was told that a new girl had been hired. Her
name was Clearly and she was absolutely gorgeous. Within a very short time
Jack became quite besotted with her and it was soon obvious that she was
interested in him as well.

But, being basically a loyal man, Jack didn't want to get too involved with
Clearly while he was still going out with Lorraine. Jack finally decided that
he no other choice but to break up with Lorraine and get it on with the new
girl. Although he tried several times to tell Lorraine, he just couldn't bring
himself to do it.

A few days later they went for a walk along the river bank when Lorraine
slipped and fell in to the river. The swift current carried her off and she
drowned.

Jack was horrified but after some time he stopped for a moment by the river
and dried his tears.
