As a collector of Lake Tahoe casino stuff,
I can still remember the first time I heard the name, "Dopey Norman's".
That was the coolest name for a casino I had ever heard, and I've been a fan ever since.
So when I saw this item for sale on eBay the other week I snapped it up:
It's a souvenir photograph from Norman Reinburg's Night Club in Vallejo, California.
For those who may not know, before opening "Dopey Norman's" at Lake Tahoe,
Reinburg ran a Night Club during the 1940s in the Bay Area, near Mare Island Naval Shipyard,
catering to a large population of sailors during and after World War II.
It wasn't until March of 1953 that he opened his short lived casino at the Lake.
Soon after, Tony Grech took over the place and opened "Tony's Club" in the same spot.
