OK I have not done this in a while. Why not? Between a sore back and all of the trips this year I have not been to any yard sales! This weekend Cindy is with the kids and grandkids at a beauty pageant in Atlanta so I am watching the animals and have little else to do. I got up early (4:45 am - geez!) and went to the rich part of Nashville (Brentwood - where all of the music stars live). Strangely enough I got all of this at two different church sales and both were an hour after they opened. I got the big hoop earrings at one sale where a lady was walking out the door with a bag of jewelry as I was going in. I really wonder what she got if she left a pair of 14K earrings. Of course many people, even jewelry collectors, do not know that the marking of earrings sometimes is on the post as it was in this case. The rest of the earrings were at the other church sale and as soon as I saw one that was market 14K I started looking a lot closer. Again, most of the time earrings just are not 14K, especially the old style clip-ons. Anyway, the top row is all 14K and is just over 9 grams which should be about $200 in gold value. The rest is all sterling, another 19 grams or something like $8 in silver value. Since I paid $10 for all of it basically I got the gold for free. Church sales can be very good sometimes because the people selling the stuff are not the owners so they have no idea what to ask. Works for me.
Now that I got the juices flowing I may just do the worlds longest yard sale this coming week. I have an offer for a $20 room at Rising Star in Lawrenceburg, IN so will probably stay there overnight on Wednesday.
