I agree with you Von. Why have we strayed away from the ANA promotions? Coin Collectors a lot of times collect: Tokens. Tokens is even in our club's name! I was and am still a coin collector. Branching out into chips and tokens was just a natural arm for me.
If hooking more members is what we want, then advertising in ANA publications is the way to go. Yes it can be expensive, but I'm not saying advertise 12 months a year. Just the few months leading up to and promoting the convention.
The ANA started out as a small organization promoting in Coin Magazines and sending representatives to Coin Shows and is now the premiere Numismatic Organization in the world.
We ( ) should have done this 10 years ago! Maybe if we had, we could have kept our club afloat. Right now it's going to take a lot of back peddling to get us up to par.
We ( ) allowed the club to stagnate. By not embracing social media, or even improving the Club' Web Site, or this Chipboard. We are driving potential users away.
Did you know that the Club's Official Web Site doesn't even list it's own: Twitter, Facebook or Instagram? Did you even know we have these?
Greg Susong's idea of the Chip Board wasn't just a place to announce chip sales. It was a place to discuss chips, just as the message board was a place to discuss club business.
We've strayed so far from our founding beliefs. I for one would like to go back 10yrs and discuss chips, like we used to.
Sorry for the rant.
