Won an awesome illegal at insane price!

Crazy how chip collecting has changed. I do not really track chip prices for areas outside Florida, but I just won a chip that a few years back would of went for lots more money:

Not long ago, the Floridian Casino chip was talked about. Those chips used to go for good money too, and now the 50 goes for under $100:

Also, not long ago, Lighterman scored a unique Florida chip in an open auction for almost nothing. I am not involved in the club really but I do still collect. I pay my membership fees. It would appear to me there is no demand, at least for the Florida stuff I collect. I would assume other areas are like this too. I am not talking about LEs or regular newer house chips, but chips with some rarity or historical significance. I do read the board and have read lots on the state of the club. Seems people are trying to find ways to get members, especially younger members, to join. I was thinking that when this club was born, the annual meetings were at the ANA. I would think that an ANA collector would be more apt to join a chip club then any other venue. Why not go back to basics, and back to coin shows? That would seem to be a great place to set up a MOGH booth and display. Couldn't the MOGH be a moving museum that sets up at shows like ANA with a walk through type of history display? Collectors at coin shows could walk through, see the chips and history behind them, and when they come out, there could be CC>CC literature. I know if I was a coin collector and got introduced to chips, I would find the chips more unique, colorful and full of interesting & exiting history than coins. While I do not disagree that going for younger membership is bad, I just think, why not target people who are already collecting little round things (coins). I also do see where changing the club name would be of any use, nothing wrong with the name now IMO. I think the club would not do better or worse with a name change. Anyway, no matter what the club does, I will continue to pay my dues, support the club and BoD. Hell, the demand and membership going down, is helping me get chips dirt cheap anyway, but I would rather see the club do well then me get great chips for crazy cheap. Love ya all grin
