I was surprised a few years ago to learn that there are collectors of Integrated Circuits (computer chips). They seem mostly interested in the physical package with the markings. Some are pretty scarce and can sell for hundreds. They don't seem to care whether the chip is still functional. Search for them on ebay sometime.
